ENGORGED

2nd album from 2002 by American Death/ Thrash and Gore Death Metal maniacs ENGORGED, emerging from the prolific underground scene of Portland, Oregon. Formed in 1997, the band developed a style deeply rooted in primitive Death Metal, classic Grindcore and B-movie horror aesthetics, resulting in a raw, savage and highly energetic sound. Released only one year after "Where Monsters Dwell", this album firmly established the identity of one of the most entertaining and unrestrained bands in the early-2000s American underground.

Within the band's catalog, "Engorged" stands as one of the best examples of its ability to combine brutality, speed and macabre humor without sacrificing heaviness. The band blends razor-sharp riffing, frantic rhythms and a strong gore-soaked aesthetic in a style reminiscent of early CARCASS, EXHUMED and IMPALED, while maintaining a strong Old School spirit throughout. The presence of musicians who would later perform with GHOUL, LORD GORE, RITUAL NECROMANCY and IMPALED further highlights ENGORGED's significance within the American extreme Metal underground.
