2nd album from 2005 by American Brutal Death Metal legends DEVOURMENT and one of the cornerstones of modern Brutal Death Metal and Slam Death Metal. Released six years after the legendary "Molesting the Decapitated", "Butcher the Weak" marked the long-awaited return of a band that had already achieved cult status within the extreme underground despite its turbulent history. Featuring Mike Majewski on vocals, Ruben Rosas on guitars and bass, and Eric Park on drums, the album firmly established the sound that would make DEVOURMENT one of the most influential names in the history of Slam Death Metal.
Within the band's catalog, "Butcher the Weak" stands as one of its most influential achievements. Here DEVOURMENT refined its trademark formula of ultra-low tuning, crushing slam riffs, inhuman guttural vocals and a far more powerful production than its predecessor. Although the album was later re-recorded as "Butcher the Weak MMVI", many fans still regard this original version as the definitive one due to its rawer, denser and more savage sound. More than twenty years after its release, it remains an essential reference point for understanding the evolution of extreme Brutal Death Metal and contemporary Slam Death Metal.
