Debut album from 1994 by this legendary Norwegian band and one of the most influential and important releases in the entire history of Black Metal. Although much of the material had been written years earlier, a series of events surrounding the band significantly affected the recording process and delayed its release, turning "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" into one of the most discussed and mythologized albums in Extreme Metal. It is also the only MAYHEM studio album to feature both Euronymous and Varg Vikernes, as well as the band's first studio recording with Attila Csihar on vocals.
Beyond the story surrounding its creation, the album represents the full realization of the ideas first explored on "Deathcrush", transforming the primitive chaos of that EP into a darker, more atmospheric and ritualistic form of Black Metal.
