BRETUS

Debut album from 2012 by this veteran Italian band from Catanzaro, active since 2000 and devoted to a distinctive blend of Stoner/ Doom Metal, 1970s Hard Rock and dark psychedelia. Inspired by the worlds of H.P. Lovecraft, mysticism and classic horror, BRETUS made its full-length debut with "In Onirica", a release filled with hypnotic atmospheres, heavy riffs and a strong melodic sensibility that quickly set the band apart within the Italian scene.
Rather than relying solely on crushing Doom Metal weight, the band crafts a richly textured sound where acoustic passages, psychedelic explorations and classic 1970s Rock influences coexist naturally. ZAGARUS delivers a particularly expressive vocal performance, guiding a collection of songs that move effortlessly between heaviness and dreamlike moods, resulting in a remarkably mature and inspired debut that laid the foundations for everything that followed.
