5th album from 2013 by Canada's GORGUTS and the long-awaited return of one of the most revolutionary bands in Death Metal history. Released twelve years after "From Wisdom to Hate", the album marked Luc Lemay's comeback at the helm of a renewed lineup featuring world-class musicians such as Kevin Hufnagel, Colin Marston and John Longstreth.

"Colored Sands" represents a natural evolution of the ideas explored on "Obscura" and "From Wisdom to Hate", pushing Technical and Avant-garde Death Metal into even more ambitious, atmospheric and sophisticated territory. Conceived as a concept album inspired by the history and culture of Tibet, it blends dissonance, complex rhythmic structures and surprising arrangements that even incorporate classical music passages. Widely regarded as one of the defining Death Metal masterpieces of the 21st century, it proved that GORGUTS remained several steps ahead of much of the extreme Metal world.
