2nd album from 1991 by American Thrash Metal cult legends RIGOR MORTIS and the final studio release of the band's original era. Following the impact of their self-titled debut and the "Freaks" EP, the Texans returned with a more ambitious and diverse record while fully preserving the aggression and intensity that had earned them a devoted underground following. The album featured Doyle Bright on vocals and once again showcased the exceptional guitar work of Mike Scaccia, later renowned for his contributions to MINISTRY.

Within the band's catalog, "Rigor Mortis vs. The Earth" represents the natural progression of a group that always operated on the border between extreme Thrash Metal and early Death Metal. While retaining the speed and violence of its predecessors, the album introduces more developed songwriting, greater rhythmic variety and a darker, more technical approach. The result is a record that preserves the savage energy of old-school Thrash while demonstrating a notable increase in compositional maturity. Long overshadowed by more commercially recognized releases of the era, it is now widely regarded as one of the strongest and most distinctive Thrash Metal albums produced by the American underground in the early 1990s.
