CELTIC FROST

Deluxe re-issue with two booklets (one of them is really thick) and slipcase, of the 4th album from 1990 by Swiss pioneers CELTIC FROST, following "Cold Lake" (1988). After the Glam Metal direction of its predecessor, which was heavily criticized by both fans and the music press, Tom G. Warrior's band reclaimed much of the darkness and heaviness that had defined its most influential work. Without completely abandoning the greater accessibility of that period, "Vanity/Nemesis" successfully reconciles CELTIC FROST's experimental spirit with a far stronger and more convincing approach.

Musically, "Vanity/Nemesis" blends crushing riffs, dark melodies and a cleaner production with a remarkable stylistic range, shifting between traditional Heavy Metal, atmospheric passages and experimental textures. The result is a distinctive album that has deservedly been re-evaluated over the years as an important transitional work, foreshadowing many of the ideas Tom G. Warrior would later develop while reaffirming CELTIC FROST's unique and uncompromising identity.
