SLEEPING WOODLAND

2nd album from 2017 by Russian SLEEPING WOODLAND, a Pagan/ Viking Metal band that further develops its epic and atmospheric approach inspired by Norse mythology and the landscapes of the far north. "To the Northern Seas (K Severnym Moryam)" expands upon the band's debut with more elaborate songwriting, richer orchestral arrangements and a distinctly cinematic feel, while remaining entirely sung in Russian.

Rather than embracing the festive side of Folk Metal, SLEEPING WOODLAND delivers a solemn and immersive experience where epic melodies, choirs, keyboards and powerful guitars combine to create a heroic yet melancholic atmosphere. The influence of BATHORY's Viking era is unmistakable, but the band establishes its own identity through refined arrangements and consistently strong songwriting.
