5th album from 1993 by American METAL CHURCH, and the band's final studio release before disbanding in 1996. "Hanging in the Balance" also marked the end of Mike Howe's first tenure as vocalist, bringing to a close a lineup responsible for some of the most respected American Heavy Metal albums of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The album fully preserves METAL CHURCH's signature sound, blending powerful American Heavy Metal with touches of Power and Thrash Metal, driven by Kurdt Vanderhoof's unmistakable riffing, strong guitar work and Mike Howe's outstanding vocal performance. Although it received less attention than its predecessors upon release, it has since earned recognition as a highly worthy conclusion to one of the band's finest eras.
