4th album from 2004 by Sweden's ABRUPTUM and one of the most unusual releases in the project's entire catalogue. Issued eight years after "Vi Sonus Veris Nigrae Malitiaes", the album finds Morgan Håkansson (MARDUK) moving almost completely away from traditional Black Metal in favor of Dark Ambient, Drone and deeply experimental soundscapes.
Built around only four lengthy compositions, "Casus Luciferi" creates a disturbing and highly ritualistic atmosphere through hypnotic repetition, oppressive drones, minimalist percussion and industrial-tinged sound design. Rather than functioning as a conventional Metal album, it unfolds as an immersive journey into ambient darkness, revealing a very different side of ABRUPTUM compared to its earlier recordings.
