KOT-BAYUN

Debut album from 2016 by Russian Folk/ Heavy Metal band KOT-BAYUN and a distinctive blend of traditional Heavy Metal and Slavic folk influences. Fronted by vocalist Margarita "Baba Kapa" Krupina, the band builds its identity around the legendary figure of Kot Bayun, the enchanted cat of Russian folklore, drawing inspiration from ancient tales, mythology and traditional culture. "Stronger Than Hell" was the band's first full-length release and established the foundations of a highly recognizable style within the Eastern European Folk Metal scene.

Rather than pursuing an extreme Metal approach, the album focuses on strong melodies, traditional influences and classic Heavy Metal energy. Memorable choruses, prominent female vocals and a rich folkloric atmosphere give the songs a distinctive personality, balancing epic, festive and traditional elements throughout. "Stronger Than Hell" succeeds in merging the spirit of classic Metal with the melodic richness of Russian folk music, resulting in a debut that is both engaging and highly characteristic.
