VESTAL CLARET

2nd album from 2014 by this Connecticut-based American band, led by PHIL SWANSON (HOUR OF 13, SEAMOUNT, BRITON RITES) and SIMON TUOZZOLI, a group that has earned cult status within the realms of occult Heavy Metal and traditional Doom Metal. Following the debut "Bloodbath" (2011), "The Cult of Vestal Claret" further refined the band's identity through a masterful blend of classic Heavy Metal, 1970s-inspired Doom and dark occult atmospheres.

One of the album's greatest strengths is its ability to channel the spirit of early BLACK SABBATH without sounding derivative, combining memorable melodies, solemn riffs and PHIL SWANSON's distinctive vocal performance. The inclusion of a cover of BLACK SABBATH's "Who Are You?" fits naturally within a record steeped in mysticism, darkness and reverence for the genre's foundations. Widely regarded as one of the band's finest achievements, the album showcases the exceptional songwriting chemistry at the heart of VESTAL CLARET.
