DOWN

Unofficial CD release issued in 2025, collecting the historic demos recorded by DOWN in 1992 and featuring a total of 14 tracks documenting the earliest days of one of the most influential supergroups in Southern Metal. Formed by PHIL ANSELMO (PANTERA), PEPPER KEENAN (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY), KIRK WINDSTEIN (CROWBAR), TODD STRANGE (CROWBAR) and JIMMY BOWER (EYEHATEGOD), the band originally circulated these recordings through the underground scene years before the release of their landmark debut album "NOLA".

These recordings capture the birth of a sound that blended Doom Metal heaviness, Sludge grit and the spirit of Southern Hard Rock. Far more than rough sketches, many of the songs already displayed a fully developed identity and foreshadowed the qualities that would make DOWN a cornerstone of Southern Metal and Stoner Metal throughout the 1990s. A fascinating historical document for collectors and dedicated fans alike.
