1st album from 1989 by the American DREAM THEATER, one of the foundational bands of modern Progressive Metal. “When Dream and Day Unite” shows the band in its early stage, with a still-developing approach but already marked by compositional ambition, instrumental technique and strong influences from classic Heavy Metal and 70s/80s Prog.

The album combines complex structures, melodic passages and more direct moments, laying the groundwork for the sound the band would fully develop in their later releases.
