4th album from 1986 by British Heavy Metal legend OZZY OSBOURNE and one of the most commercially successful releases of his solo career. Released after "Bark at the Moon", the album marked the second and final studio collaboration between Ozzy and guitarist Jake E. Lee, while also introducing drummer Randy Castillo and bassist Phil Soussan, co-writer of the album's biggest hit, "Shot in the Dark". At the time of its release, it became the highest-charting studio album of Ozzy's solo career.
Within Ozzy's catalog, "The Ultimate Sin" represents the point where the classic Heavy Metal foundation of his early solo work merged with the more melodic and accessible approach that characterized much of the mid-1980s. While retaining Ozzy's unmistakable identity, the album balances arena-ready anthems such as "Shot in the Dark" and the title track with more ambitious material like "Killer of Giants". Particular praise is due to Jake E. Lee, whose guitar work has gained increasing recognition over the years. Once considered underrated, the album is now widely regarded as one of the hidden gems of Ozzy's classic solo era.
