BELIAL (fin)

Compilation dedicated to Finnish cult act BELIAL, gathering virtually all of the band's early recordings and documenting one of the most intense and blasphemous Death/ Black Metal entities to emerge from Finland in the early 1990s. Under the title "The Invocation of Belial", this collection includes the legendary "The Gods of the Pit" demo (1991), the "Wisdom of Darkness" EP (1992), seven tracks taken from various rehearsal sessions recorded between 1991 and 1992, and seven live recordings captured in 1991. An extensive historical document that traces the evolution of a band that helped shape the darkest and most extreme side of the Finnish underground.

The material collected here captures a band operating at the crossroads between primitive Death Metal and the emerging Black Metal movement of the era. Savage riffing, infernal vocals, blasphemous atmospheres and relentless aggression make these recordings a perfect snapshot of a time when the boundaries between both genres were still being defined. While the sound quality naturally varies depending on the source material, the historical value and sheer ferocity of the music are undeniable.
