5th album from 1990 by Swedish BATHORY, one of Quorthon's most influential works and a major turning point in the band's evolution. Moving almost entirely away from the primitive Black Metal of the early releases, Hammerheart embraced an epic and majestic sound that laid the foundations for what would later become known as Viking Metal.

The album's slow-paced compositions, grand atmospheres and expansive songwriting create a completely different experience from its predecessors. Far removed from the raw aggression of early BATHORY, Quorthon crafted an ambitious and deeply evocative record that would become one of the most influential albums for countless Viking, Pagan and Extreme Metal bands in the decades that followed.
