2-CD reissue of the 1990 debut and only album by Dutch USURPER, one of the most overlooked European Thrash Metal bands of the late 1980s. Originally formed as SEPULCHRAL DEATH, the band evolved from an early Death Metal style into a sharp and aggressive brand of Thrash, perfectly reflecting the transition taking place within the Dutch extreme metal scene at the time. This expanded edition includes the original album, all three demos recorded between 1986 and 1988, including the SEPULCHRAL DEATH material, plus a complete 1990 live performance in Rotterdam.
Musically, "Divine Spiritual and Intellectual Development" is rooted in powerful, riff-driven Thrash Metal inspired by the American school, featuring a harsh vocal style recalling Jeff Becerra and Chuck Billy, along with a remarkably strong production that has helped the album stand the test of time. Although USURPER never achieved the recognition of many of their Dutch contemporaries, this remains a genuine hidden gem for fans of classic Thrash Metal.
