ANASARCA

5th album from 2026 by German ANASARCA, the veteran Death Metal band formed in 1995. "Achlys" ends a lengthy recording hiatus while staying true to the band's original identity, presenting a dark and crushing collection of songs inspired by Greek mythology, where Achlys embodies the personification of death mist, misery and sorrow. Three of its tracks had previously appeared on the 2024 promo "Goddess of the Somber Shade".

The album delivers firmly old-school Death Metal rooted in the early 1990s, driven by crushing riffs, frequent tempo changes, carefully crafted guitar solos and superb musicianship rather than modern Brutal Death excesses. Balancing speed, power and memorable songwriting, ANASARCA once again prove themselves masters of classic Death Metal with one of the strongest releases of their career.
