13th album from 1987 by this legendary British Heavy Metal band. "The Eternal Idol" marked the beginning of a new era for BLACK SABBATH with the arrival of vocalist Tony Martin, whose powerful and melodic voice brought a renewed identity to the band following the turbulent years after Ronnie James Dio's departure. It was also the only studio album to feature Eric Singer on drums before he moved on to other major projects.

One of the album's most appealing qualities is the way it preserves BLACK SABBATH's trademark dark and epic atmosphere while embracing a more melodic and accessible approach than some of its predecessors. The songs showcase Tony Iommi at a particularly inspired moment, delivering a strong collection of material that would lay the foundations for the band's subsequent Tony Martin era.
