Debut album from 1987 by the legendary American Death Metal pioneers and one of the most influential recordings in the history of Extreme Metal. At just 20 years old, Chuck Schuldiner crafted a work that established many of the foundations upon which Death Metal would later be built, combining the aggression of extreme Thrash Metal with a level of darkness and brutality that was remarkably ahead of its time. "Scream Bloody Gore" not only marked the recording debut of DEATH, but also became one of the key starting points of the entire genre.

Within the band's catalog, this album represents the purest and most primitive expression of its sound before the technical and progressive evolution that would emerge on later releases. In addition to Chuck Schuldiner handling guitars, bass and vocals, the recording features drummer Chris Reifert, who would soon go on to form the influential AUTOPSY, another cornerstone of American Death Metal. The influence of POSSESSED, SLAYER, KREATOR and CELTIC FROST is evident, yet DEATH pushed that formula into new territory through a level of brutality and identity that would help define an entirely new branch of Extreme Metal. Nearly four decades after its release, "Scream Bloody Gore" remains an essential landmark and one of the most important debut albums in Metal history.
